I worked in schools for years as pupil support and a teacher. Kids will use an annoying tone for anything with that look on their face that says 'you can't do anything about it'. I have always thought it was a fantastic way of rebelling places that aspire to recreating the Hitler Youth of conformity.

Parents are told to ignore acting out but teachers over react and make it worse. Maybe the head should laugh and meep back, get a sense of humour and it would stop by itself

Its the usual nonsense - immigrants are stealing our jobs AND living off benefits. The same thing has been said of Asians, Africans, Irish, Normans, Angles, Saxons ad infinitum and definitely ad nauseum. There is no such thing as a host culture, every culture is continuously evolving in response to others. Same as the folklore and traditions we pass on now mainly originated in Babylon and Phoenicia thousands of years ago. Its naive and xenophobic to ignore history for propaganda.

Humans are self-limiting anyway. For those who 'overbreed' there will be those who don't breed. For every disease we prevent, more develop to cull us - not to mention the fantastic job we do culling ourselves. I'm with Michael Crichton, viewing human actions as having any real implication for the planet as a whole is simply self-centred and neurotic. Making us the most arrogant and the most ignorant animals on the planet. :->

I agree this is a revolting story.

I cannot say I am surprised.

Some of the women around here diet themselves into a skeletal state and their faces are as wrinkled as rotten apples by the time they are 35. Obviously they don't have any body fat to use for the wrinkle treatments as they are just skin and (decalcified bone) they feel need. I wonder if they ever question where it comes from. I wonder how many of them tonight are feeling sick to the core just in case .........

Sorry if I sound harsh, but this is not my idea of beauty. Beauty is a natural thing, or it should be.

I heard this on the news earlier today and almost got sick.
This is too shocking and disgusting for words, and yes, the buyers are just as guilty as the murderers as far as I am concerned! It is a shocking indictment about the crazy world we live in today.

Thanks. I used read them in one of the mainstream papers in Australia - I can't recall which one - which may be why the name is uncertain as it could have been a local change.

I do remember there was a fair bit of censorship (and self-censorship) going on in the Australian press at the time because they had conscripted troops for the Vietnam war. The cartoon was possibly a minor piece of rebellion by the editors.

Does he recall whether I have the name right and who drew them? I'd be interested to have another look at them. (I was about 6 or 7 when I used to read them and probably didn't get all the references.) :)

I did think about the Roadrunner's 'meep meep' but suspect that is not how it is being used by these kids. Its apparently all to do with the tone of voice. :)
