Some one just sent me this and I though I'd share.
The construction of the UK's most expensive state school has begun.
Thats right - a State School - as in, funded by your taxes.
But this school will only be for children from the Jewish population

Thank you. So what is wrong? Relibious schools? Parents love them because they generally have a moral content to their curriculum and bother about discipline.
The expense? This government spends so much money on rubbish, the idea of it actually being spent on some members of the public who might benefit from it is a pleasant change.
As a person without children, I could say that any school is a waste of my taxpayer's money, as I don't benefit, but that would be stupid - I have a direct interest in young people meeting thier potential and being brought up as good members of society.

I don't think your points hold, it's still a school for one ethnicity paid for by the tax payer.
If someone asked for ... say, Atheist schools, would the government front tax payers money for that? I think not.
by all means, if the money was paid by private means, I would have no complaint.

Pro I think 'Jewish' school would have been much more appropriate, Semafu, in your title...personally I'm against particular religions being permitted to have their own schools using tax payers money...if they wish to have them and pay for them out their own purses, fair enough, but this is segregation and certainly not healthy for a supposedly integrated society...also I'm presuming the autistic children will also have to have one Jewish parent so the facilities are not going to help non-Jewish autistic children by the sound of the set up...hmmm...we do seem to be going down a route of separation rather than the encouraging of community and this is just another example...I would apply this to any school where religious beliefs of the parents are the criteria for selecting the pupils...it's wrong and shouldn't be funded by the government at all...

Pro Should we cause a fuss about a Catholic school(religious beliefs used as selection)...or a Church of England school...(religious beliefs and ATTENDANCE at church used as selection)
We live in the modern world...we live in a modern and multi cultural society...
for goodness sake...if you wish to live in a country without voices and beliefs and freedom...then this is surely not the place.
No matter what the religion of the school, it still must follow the same curriculum if it is a state school...so it's a good thing folks!
If it was a private affair, then 'separation' would be a valid argument.

I don't really know how it works.
I was under the impression Church schools were setup and payed for (at least in part) by the CoE.
If that is not the case - then I must ask the question - If I start a religion, will I get tax payers money to start my own school?

Wouln't it be politer to say '"Jewish School?" For some reason the title of your post "Jew School" implies that you generally do not like Jewish people.
